Should I drive my car after it has suffered body damage?

It is essential that you have your vehicle towed to the collision repair facility after it has suffered body damage. This is because you won’t actually be able to see if there is significant damage that is hidden after the collision. Another thing is if you choose to drive the vehicle after it has suffered body damage, if anything else happens, your insurance company may not cover the repair costs.

What happens if more work is required for repairs than initially thought?

If your vehicle is in for collision repair and your technicians find additional damage that needs to be addressed, then the insurance company and the customer is notified first. It’s not unusual for an auto body technician to discover the need for more collision repairs after an estimate has been submitted. The shop will simply contact your insurance provider to request permission to proceed with the additional repairs and contact the customer to keep them up to date.

If the damage is minor, do I still need collision repair?

It is always a good idea to have your vehicle checked out regardless of how insignificant the damage looks. This is because there could be hidden damage that you can’t see on the surface. On the surface, the body damage on your vehicle may appear minor. However, lurking beneath could be broken or missing components. A collision repair technician will be able to find any hidden damage and address the issue right there.
