Document Accident Details
If you are uninjured and it is safe, document the accident. Documentation can include the date, time, and location of the accident. It should also include photos of your vehicle and the other vehicle involved. If you have hit other objects, photograph those as well. You can use your cellphone or a camera if you have one.
Depending on the severity of the damage, you may be able to file a police report and receive their documentation as well.
Reach Out to Your Insurance Company
When you are able to, contact your insurance company. Some companies have an online claim portal or a phone number for accident claims. Your insurance will likely ask for any documentation you received, including the other driver's insurance information and photographs you may have taken.
Your insurance company will inform you of the next steps, including hiring a tow truck if needed, potential rental vehicles, and whatever else your policy involves.
